Past Glory takes us on a Magical Automotive Trip at Amelia Island's Concours d'Elegance

Ferrari GTO, AC Cobra and Duesenberg are just some of the historic cars that made the trip to Amelia Island in Florida last month to participate in the 17th annual Concours d'Elegance. But for Justin Lapriore, who filmed this video, the event was mostly about the Gran Turismo Omologato.

"I spent the weekend of March 11th chasing Ferrari 250 GTOs around Amelia Island FL at the Concours d'Elegance. This is what came of it. It seems like a good fit for the website," Justin told us in an email.

The Drift Wars: Bikes and Cars Engage in Sideways Challenge Videos

A year ago in a track not so far away from here, Nick “Apex” Brocha rode a 2005 Kawasaki ZX-10 in a drift war against a Corvette-engined RX-7 with professional racecar driver Jim Guthrie behind its wheel at the Sendia, New Mexico speedway.

That was episode one of the High Planes Drifters video, which proved quite popular on YouTube.

The sequel features Nick, his teammate Ernie Vigil and two Roaring Toyz-tuned Triumph Speed Triples. What the two riders don’t know is that, while they’ve been searching for the perfect stretch of tarmac to perform their sliding stunts, police officer Dan Brockett is out to get them. And his 550HP Mustang Cobra is also capable of going sideways, too.

DIY Video: How to get Even with Your Other Half

We have no way of knowing if the protagonist of the video you're about to enjoy after the break had some scores to settle with his other half (be that his wife or girlfriend), or if he simply had his moment of Zen, but if it's the former, we can guarantee its success.

All joking aside, we'll assume that there's a large entrance located somewhere behind the man filming the driver in the Cobra roadster leaving his mark on the wooden floors – well, that or he built the car from a kit inside the room in which case we'd support the "moment of Zen" theory. Silverstone Organisers Ask: What is the Best British Sports Car of All Time?

The fifteen finalists in the Silverstone Classic’s, “Best British Sports Car of All Time” vote-in have been announced, and boy is there some choice picks. Before we get to that though, can I just point out a misnomer in using the, “of All Time” qualifier?

This assumes (prophetically?) that Britain will not be making any more sports cars in the future, whereas, “Best British Sports Car So Far” would be a far more accurate description. But enough with semantics: who are our lucky finalists? Read on….

1965 Shelby Cobra 427 vs 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia in a $400,000 ¼ Mile Race Bet; Can You Guess Who Wins?

A no-nonsense, classic American muscle car from the 1960s going head to head with a high-tech, thoroughbred Italian supercar in the ultimate quarter mile race. What more could you ask to make this battle more interesting? Well, how about a $400,000 wager?

The story has it that Dan Bilzerian, owner of a ‘tricked-out’ 1965 427 Shelby Cobra, placed a bet that his American muscle car can beat his friend Tom Goldstein's 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia in a quarter mile race.

On March 9, 2011, the two men brought their cars down to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway racetrack and put their money where their mouth is. And no, we won’t spoil the surprise by telling you who won the bet. Video follows after the break.

AC Cobra Lives on: New Model with Corvette V8, Porsche Brakes and Gullwing Top

Forget about replicas; this one is the real deal as AC Cars has announced that it will unleash the latest iteration of its venomous Cobra roadster called MkVI at the Top Marques car show in Monaco on April 16. While retaining the seductive and at the same time muscular lines of the original Cobra, the MkVI brings a number of surprises the first one being that due to the fact that AC Cars has entered a strategic alliance with German company Gullwing GmbH, the new Cobra will be produced at the latter's plant in Heyda, Germany.

The MkVI features a handmade aluminum-hybrid body placed atop a triangulated, jig welded round tube spaceframe chassis, with racecar derived suspension. Power is provided by a 6.2-liter V8 Corvette engine producing 437HP for the standard GT and a whopping 647HP with the help of a supercharger for the GTS version. AC has also dipped its hand into Porsche's spare parts bin 'borrowing' a set of 4-pot brake calipers with vented discs (332 mm front-298 mm rear) for the MkIV.

AC Cars supports that the GTS-spec MkIV which weighs in at just 1,025kg or 2,259 lbs, can sprint from zero to 100km/h (that's 62mph) in around 3.3 seconds.

Both the GT and GTS will come equipped as standard with a new light weight gullwing hardtop. We'll have more on the MkIV after the official unveiling of the sports car.
