Thursday, January 24, 2013

Since time immemorial, word was that the only true sports car you could drive day-in, day-out, was the Porsche 911. Then the Audi R8 came along and joined its posher VW Group stable-mate, while Nissan introduced the GT-R, but that’s about it.

What about the Italians? Well, they’re a hoot to drive flat out on an autobahn, marvelous to look at, spine-tingling when you floor the throttle at the exit of a bend and apply opposite lock, for sure.

Normally, there would be no point in asking if a Ferrari model can drift, but then again, Maranello brand's new FF supercar isn't your typical Ferrari.

For starters, it comes with standard four-wheel drive (a first for a Ferrari model), which isn't an ideal setup for powerslides, and then there's the fact that the four-seater, shooting brake-style Ferrari weighs in at close to two tonnes.

According to the reports, the conversion to allow the Ferrari's V12 engine to run on E85 fuel comes from Norwegian firm Customized.no and it costs just €1,500 or nearly US$2,000.

On regular fuel, the 6.3-liter lump delivers 660PS (651bhp) emitting 360 gr/km of CO2 emissions and accelerating the FF from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.7 seconds.
