Hartmann "Primes" Up the Volkswagen T5 Van

The Volkswagen T5 is one of the German tuning industry's favorite models with dozens of companies offering all sorts of cosmetic and power upgrades for the fifth generation of the Transporter series.

Hartmann's treat for T5 owners goes by the name "Prime" and promises to enhance the looks and performance of the mid-size Volkswagen van.

Most German tuning firms have a soft spot for Volkswagen's T5 series of vans and ABT is no exception. The VW Group specialist has presented a new package that treats the passenger version of the T5 with more power and upgraded looks.

ABT offers an engine kit for all diesel versions of the T5 starting with the 83hp (84PS) engine that's bumped to 109hp (110PS) and continues with the 101hp (102PS) unit that gets a nudge to 129hp (130PS), and the 2.0-liter TDI with 138hp (140PS) that's boosted to 168hp (170PS).

German-based tuning company MTM has shared photos and details of the vehicles it plans to debut at the 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon in a just a few days' time.

We'll start with the Audi Q3 crossover with the 2.0-liter TFSI engine. MTM's tune includes a power kit that lifts output from 170PS (168hp) to 310PS (307hp) allowing for the improvement of its 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time by two seconds to 6.1 seconds, its top speed from 212km/h (132mph) to 250km/h (155mph).

The tuning house also adds a custom exhaust kit, a rear diffuser, a sports suspension kit, 20-inch Bimoto lightweight alloy wheels shod in 255/35 ZR20 tires and the optional black-red-gold foil wrap seen on this car.

The strong economic growth in the Asia region continues to interest the Volkswagen Group, which has decided to begin “Semi Knocked Down” [SKD] assembly of its T5 Transporter passenger and Multivan commercial vehicles in Indonesia

The German firm will assemble the T5 models in Indonesia for the local market together with the importer Garuda Mataram Motor.

A new special edition version of Volkswagen's Caravelle passenger van has been introduced in the UK. The German company will produce only 225 examples of the Caravelle Edition 25 for Britain, all exclusively finished in Candy White, or an optional Reflex Silver metallic paint.

The Edition 25 comes with a host of extras and bespoke styling cues such as the revised front bumper with contrasting satin black styling accents in the lower sections, xenon headlights with LED running lights and black highlights along the length of the vehicle and on the roof, side sills and the tailgate.

At this week's IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, held from 23rd to 31st September 2010 in Hanover, Germany, Volkswagen is showing off a limited edition version of its latest T5 Multivan created to celebrate the model's 25th anniversary.

Aptly named Multivan Edition 25, VW's full-size people carrier is based on the Comfortline trim model adding among other things,a black matt lacquered roof, tinted head lamps and tail lights, black 18-inch light metal alloy wheels and unique decals on the rocker panels. Renowned motorhome manufacturer Karmann-Mobil has revealed its latest creation based on Volkswagen's new T5 van (see details here). The model pictured above is the Colorado that is offered with the same 2.0-liter diesel engines as your everyday Transporter, Mutlivan, Caravelle and California T5s, and in particular the 140HP and 180HP units. Depending on how deep you want to dig into your pockets, the Colorado's newly designed fiberglass cab can be trimmed inside according to your personal taste and fitted with numerous features that can rival the luxury suite at any five-star resort.
