Project Growler: Tuner Drops a 6.1-liter Hemi SRT8 into a Plymouth Prowler

Saturday, February 2, 2013

In some ways, the 1990s and 2000s will be remembered as the decades that brought retro styling to the automotive world. Among the first brands to exploit the interest in cars with old-fashion shapes but modern hardware was Plymouth with its Prowler.

The aggressive looking hotrod with open wheels and an open cabin began its life in 1997 as a Plymouth and ended its career in 2002 as a Chrysler model, after the latter pulled the plug on the Plymouth brand in 2001.

Oh Why, Oh Why Would Someone Do This to a BMW 8-Series Coupe?

Thursday, January 31, 2013

It's hard to believe just by looking at well-preserved examples, but next year, the BMW 8-Series coupe will be a quarter of a century old as it debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in September of 1989, remaining in production for a decade.

It's also hard to believe that someone would spend time, effort and money to transform a 1993 850i into an odd-looking caricature (and that's a huge understatement) like the one pictured here.

Don't Like the 2014 Corvette Stingray's Square Tail Lamps? There May Be a Solution...

Even though the dust has yet to settle from the presentation of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray and we won't be seeing the car in showrooms until the end of summer the earliest, some fans of the series have been complaining about the switch from circle to the more Camaro-esque square taillights.

While it's true that the C2, C3, C5 and C6 did indeed have round or oval rear lights, it wasn't always like that as the C4 came with four square-shaped tail lamps and the first Corvette had single lights from 1951 to 1960, with the four-light treatment appearing on the 1961 and 1962 models of the C1 lineup.

Hofele-Design Turns the Audi Q7 Facelift Into the STRATOR GT 780

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

We don't know if anyone would actually refer to their Audi Q7 as the "STRATOR GT 780" after Hofele-Design transforms the facelift version of Ingolstadt's full-size luxury SUV, but in any case, that's the name given to the tune by the German-based shop.

The aesthetic treatment encompasses a new front bumper with larger intakes and four additional lamps on the corners, front and rear wheel-arch extensions with matching side skirts, a roof spoiler, front fender air vents, and a wide rear apron with a diffuser.

Watch a Kawasaki ZX-10R Chase an Audi RS6 ABT 700HP on the Autobahn

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Yes, you read that correctly and we did not place the models in the wrong order; it's the almighty Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R that's doing the chasing most of the times in this crazy meet up with an Audi RS6 Avant ABT on Germany's largely speed-limit free Autobahn.

We're told that the tuned super-station wagon makes 700-horses, but we wouldn't be surprised if it was more, and you won't be either after you watch the Audi overtaking the Kawasaki, which was travelling at a speed of 300km/h (186 mph), with ease in the second video at the 12-second mark.

At Last! Awesome Flying DeLorean is here to Take Us Back to the Future! [w/Videos]

Thursday, January 17, 2013

When Marty McFly and "Doc" Brown took us for a second cinematic trip back and forth into time with their late 1980s flick "Back to the Future Part II", many of us who were youngsters then, dreamed that by 2015, cars would indeed fly.

We may have grown up, but the kid that lives deep down inside us would still like to believe. Evidently, we're not alone, which brings us to Matthew Riese from San Francisco, who wanted to build the next best thing, a DeLorean-themed hovercraft.
