Riding a Bicycle Backwards and Playing with Your Phone; What Could Possibly go Wrong?

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

The verdict on whether this incident was staged or not remains open, but we're going to assume that you will at least have a laugh or two after watching the video of a bicyclist riding backwards while texting on his cell phone.

Naturally, it didn't take long for a scooter (going suspiciously slow…) to appear on the road, and well, what you suspected from the beginning of the clip happened.

Our friend Shawnz from Singapore is back with new material for his recently completed Mazda RX-8 Blacknightz Coupe project.

Meet the Ultimate Pizza Delivery Machine

Monday, February 4, 2013

Perhaps you may remember a competition launched last year by Domino's Pizza and Local Motors to find the "Ultimate Delivery Vehicle". The winning entry was a concept vehicle called the 'Domino's Pack' by Anej Kostrevc from Slovenia, which you can check out in the gallery after the break.

For all intents and purposes, Kostrevc's study for a single-seater model with a tiny Fiat TwinAir engine driving the front wheels would be fine for delivering pizzas, but ask any true car fan, and they will likely tell you that the idea proposed by "Team Door Bangers", sounds far more intriguing from a driver's perspective…

Scoop: Is This a Fiat Qubo-Based Ram Model or Something Else?

There's so much going on with the Fiat-Chrysler Alliance these days that's it actually hard to keep up. The constant changes to the group's product plan don't help either.

At the end of January, for example, Chrysler released a revised business plan for the North American market, axing previously announced models, adding new ones and delaying others.

Adding to the confusing is the appearance of camouflaged vehicles like this prototype minivan, which if we're not mistaken, was filmed by KGP Photography testing in Colorado.

BMW Z4 Roadster Makes Zombies Feel Alive in "Warm Bodies"

In a world where advertising is just about everywhere you look, it should come as no surprise that companies are quite fond of the communication tool known as "product placement", in which brands and their goods are integrated into storylines.

In the automotive industry, BMW is no stranger to product placement in movies, with its cars having been prominently featured (indirectly advertised) in many films, including three James Bond flicks with Pierce Brosnan in the role of 007.

The first two teasers about one of the first episodes’ stories are now available. They include Vicki Butler-Henderson, a very yellow Porsche Boxster S, an airfield runway and the world’s largest civilian aerobatic display team.

SRT Announces Return to Le Mans 24-Hour Race with New Viper GTS-R [w/Video]

Even SRT boss Ralph Gilles has admitted that the previous Vipers had an “axe-murderer” kind of demeanor but, despite that, the “snake” has had been quite successful in racing, competing against the best production-based rivals in the world and beating them not only in America but across the globe, too.

One of its greatest triumphs has been finishing in the first two places in its class for three years in a row, from 1998 to 2000, in the most prestigious endurance race in the world: the 24 Hours or Le Mans.

Fast & Furious 6 Trailer has Plenty of Cars, Girls, Explosions and Crashes

The first official trailer of Hollywood's upcoming Fast & Furious 6 movie was released during last night's Super Bowl XVLII and it has all the necessary elements for a blockbuster film: tough guys, sexy girls, tuned and exotic cars, lots of mayhem and…forgettable dialogues.

In the sixth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, the gang of slick drivers reunites, this time to help the U.S. government take down a new villain named Owen Shaw played by Luke Evans.

Pow! Shady Used Car Dealer Sucker Punches a TV Reporter

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Whoever said being a reporter on television isn't exciting or…painful, needs to think twice. Investigative reporter Jeff Chirico for local CBS station WGCL in Atlanta has the scars to prove it after he tried to interview the father of a convicted auto dealer who opened a new shop in Gainesville, even though he doesn't have a license.

The story begins in September when Richard Wilder, 43, owner of the now-defunct Braselton Used Auto Sales, was charged with seven counts of theft by deception and one count of racketeering for purportedly depositing customers' tax refund checks into his own account.

Project Growler: Tuner Drops a 6.1-liter Hemi SRT8 into a Plymouth Prowler

Saturday, February 2, 2013

In some ways, the 1990s and 2000s will be remembered as the decades that brought retro styling to the automotive world. Among the first brands to exploit the interest in cars with old-fashion shapes but modern hardware was Plymouth with its Prowler.

The aggressive looking hotrod with open wheels and an open cabin began its life in 1997 as a Plymouth and ended its career in 2002 as a Chrysler model, after the latter pulled the plug on the Plymouth brand in 2001.

Game Over for Porsche 911 GT3 RS (?) at the Nürburgring

Losing control and trashing your car on a wall while playing Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport might be fun in a sadistic kind of way, but that's something you never, ever want to experience in real life on a track, or anywhere else, for that matter, even though, truth to be said, statistics are stacked against you…

The driver of what may or may or not be a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (it doesn't sound like one, if you want our opinion) was lapping the Nürburgring, accelerating to a speed of close to 200km/h (124mph) when at the Bergwerk corner, the car's rear end starts to slide, possibly after stepping on leaked water coolant.

Ferrari’s New F138 2013 Formula 1 Car is Evolutionary Rather Than Revolutionary

On Friday, February 1, Ferrari unveiled the new single-seater with which Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will fight for the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship.

The new car is named the F138, with the first two digits standing for the year (2013) and the “8” for the number of cylinders as well as the eighth season the team is using that configuration.

With F1 switching to V6 turbocharged engines, the project 664 (as it is code-named) is a development of last year’s F2012 rather than a clean-sheet design. Of course, practically every one of its nearly six thousand components has been revised for maximum efficiency but the basics, such as the suspension layout and the engine, follow the same philosophy.

Way to Go: Watch Chris Harris Drive a Ferrari 458 Spider Flat-Out on the Track

Friday, February 1, 2013

He might have claimed that Ferrari “doctors” the cars tested by the media but that didn’t stop Chris Harris from a) replacing his Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 with a used 599 GTB and b) driving any car with a prancing horse on the bonnet that he could get his hands on.

The problem is that, with all the bad blood between the two parties, Harris got to drive the 458 Spider too late, after it had been reviewed by almost everyone, a fact he acknowledges right from the start.

Watch a Kawasaki Undertake Alfa's New MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK

The arrival of the new limited edition Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK in the UK after its world premiere at last year's Paris Motor Show, sparked a promotional idea into the heads of the Italian brand; since the car is inspired and named after the Superbike championship, how about placing it together with a racing bike on the track?

Alfa Romeo called in precision driver Paul Swift and British Superbike rider Chris ‘The Stalker’ Walker to perform a neat stunt at the Silverstone circuit. Swift drove the Alfa over a ramp tilting it on one side so Walker could ride under it in a Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja British Superbike before speeding out to the other side.

McLaren Remembers its Founder at its 50th Anniversary, Launches New Film Series

Bruce McLaren was a man of many talents. Born in 1937 in New Zealand, he was not only a racing driver but also a racecar designer and engineer.

His racing career started when he was 14 years old. He won the 1959 U.S. Grand Prix at the age of 22 years and 80 days, becoming the youngest driver at the time to win a Formula 1 race. In 1963, he founded his own team, named Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Ltd., but continued to race for Cooper.

He quit in 1965 and announced that he would enter F1 next year with his own team. In 1966 he won the 24 Hour of Le Mans along with Chris Amon in a Ford GT40 and, two years later, gave his team its maiden F1 win at Spa.

Nothing to See Here, Keep on Driving

Being scared to death after watching a truck flip over right in front of you on the highway is completely human and understandable. What isn't, is when something like this occurs to you and you drive off into the sunset as if nothing happened.

Just look at this accident, which from what we understand, took place somewhere in Asia.

New Short Video of the 2014 Corvette Stingray on the Track will Leave You Wanting More

Considering that, the seventh generation of the Corvette was presented in the middle of January at the Detroit motor show, but it won't hit dealer lots across the country until late August at the best, General Motors has plenty of time for a solid marketing campaign.

And by that we really mean it has a lot of time for…unnecessary teasing, much like this new video released by the Detroit carmaker on Friday and which allows us to hear and see the 2014 Corvette Stingray on the track, but only for a few seconds…

New Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG “Edition 507” Gets a 50HP Upgrade [w/Video]

In case you haven’t noticed, AMG has adopted forced induction for every new model it introduces, from the A- to the S-Class and practically anything in between, all in the name of improving fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions without missing out on performance.

There are two Mercedes-Benz models, though, that still hang on to the “old” naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, code-named M 156: the SLS AMG and the C 63 AMG. That’s a good thing because, no matter how efficient the turbocharged units are, the soundtrack of that V8 on full throttle is music to the ears of every sports car fan.

There's Something Reversely Wrong with this Driver

Thursday, January 31, 2013

You could say that this driver is pretty good with his hands behind the wheel, or completely senseless, or perhaps better yet, both.

How else can you explain his actions after the car lost traction due to the icy conditions of the road, spinning around itself and narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle?
