Top Gear Returns for 19th Season, Pagani Huayra Smashes Ariel Atom V8 Lap Record

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Some say that it’s getting a bit old inserting the “some say” joke in Top Gear stories, so we’ll just get down to business. As you may probably have heard, the world’s most (in)famous TV car show is back for its 19th season.

Even though the three hosts teased us about what was about to come, and after watching them for so long, we’ve come to expect almost everything, the season premiere that aired on Sunday, 27 January on UK’s BBC Two managed to throw quite a surprise.

Purple Carbon Pagani Huayra with Gold Rims Won't go by Unnoticed

Friday, November 9, 2012

It’s safe to say that nine of out 10 people will get the Pagani Huayra's name wrong (include us in that group), but few if any will mistake it for anything else on the road today.

As impressive as it may be, there are some ways to make the Huayra stand out even more from the crowd, namely by individualizing the car's appearance.

Journo Takes a Pagani Huayra for a Tire-Burning Spin on a Twisty Road

Thursday, August 9, 2012

Not that we need an excuse to show you another video of Horacio Pagani's V12-powered monster, but truth to be said, it's not often that you see a very, very expensive and exotic supercar like the Huayra being thrashed around a public road by someone other than its owner or if it's a press car, a company test driver.

In this case, said driver happened to be a Greek journalist from Drive Magazine who had the rather unique opportunity of jumping behind the wheel of the $1.4 million Huayra without having someone (as in a company official) taking the passenger seat to observe him.

Huayra! Watch Pagani's Chief Test Driver in Some Rocking Action

Friday, July 13, 2012

If there is one person in the world you would like to take you out for a spin in the new Huayra, or any other Pagani model for that matter, it's Davide Testi, the Italian firm's official test driver who has racked up more miles in the car than anyone else has.

A one John Jack had the privilege of seeing Testi manhandling [sic] the exotic supercar from the relative comfort of the passenger seat during a trip in Italy and was also kind enough to share the experience with the rest of us through a video that you can enjoy right past the break.

The Uninspiring Silence of an Audi R8 e-Tron vs The Screaming Sounds of a Pagani Zonda R at the 'Ring

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Call us old fashion, but we believe that a sports car has to arouse all your senses with its acceleration, speed, handling, looks and of course, sounds.

The Audi R8 is by all means a sharp looking and handling automobile that will likely be fast even in e-tron guise, which is Audi talk for its pure-electric powertrain that uses two electric motors on each axle.

Larger-Than-Life Pagani Meeting with Eleven Zondas and One Huayra

With only a handful of Pagani cars being hand built every year since the founding of the company in the 1990s, any meeting of two or more models of the Modena-based automaker is something worth talking about.

Now, seeing eleven Pagani Zondas and one Huayra gather at the same place at the same time is nothing less of extraordinary.

Do we need to say more to convince you to hop over the break to watch the two videos from the Pagani owners meet in Italy?

It's one of the rarest and most expensive production supercars in the world with only about 40 examples, priced at €845,000 (US$1.04 million) excluding taxes a piece, to be built each year.

The new Pagani Huayra might have come to life at last year's Geneva Motor Show, but to date, very few people have sat in it, let alone test drive it.

Pagani Video Documents the Development and the Birth of the New Huayra

Friday, March 9, 2012

Among the very few new supercar brands that have successfully managed to challenge the establishment and the likes of traditional sports car builders such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti, is Pagani Automobile.

The company that was founded in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena in Italy, in 1992 by Horacio Pagani, launched its first model, the V12-powered Zonda, to critical acclaim in 1999.

The Zonda remained in production until 2011 when Pagani presented it's second model, the Huayra at last year's Geneva Motor Show.

In the video documentary that follows after the jump, you can watch how the Huayra came to be and what it takes to build one.

Video: Horacio Pagani Takes New Huayra for a Ride

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

It's perhaps the most exotic and flamboyantly styled supercar that money – and we mean lots of it - can buy these days. We're talking about the successor to the renowned Pagani Zonda called the Huayra.

Among the very few people in this world to have had the chance to take a ride in the brand-new Huayra is EVO magazine's Harry Metcalfe who was invited to a special event for Pagani owners in Sardinia.

While Metcalfe wasn't able to drive the car himself, the company's founder and owner, Horaccio Pagani took him for a spin in the Huayra providing us with some pretty cool footage which you can check out for yourself in the video after the break.

VIDEO: This is What a Pagani Huayra Sounds Like on the Track

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

We know many of you have been waiting for a while to get an acoustic flavor of the much-hyped Pagani Huayra, and now, thanks to the recordings of Youtube’s supercar buff, Marchettino, so we'll keep this post short and sweet in the name of expediency.

Marchettino attached a video camera on the rear corner of the Huayra as the supercar made a quick lap around the Adria International Raceway, which is located the Veneto region of Northern Italy. The result? Well, let’s just say that we weren’t exactly thrilled from the sounds of the V12, but keep in mind this may be due to the poor fitting or quality of the camera.

Pagani Huayra Live from the Geneva Motor Show, Plus First Promo Videos

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

It's quite difficult to imagine that the beautiful, spine tingling Pagani Zonda has been around for over ten years. Mr. Horacio Pagani graced our eyes in 1999 with a 7.0 AMG sourced V12 masterpiece with a steampunk style interior. Its beautiful form, angry looks and frightening performance turned it into a modern exotic classic not seen since the earlier years of motoring. But time has come for Pagani to introduce the Zonda's successor in the form of the brand-new Huayra that made its world premiere today at the 2011 Geneva Salon.

When Pagani unleashed the first photos its hypercar named after a South American god of wind, there seemed to be a bit of negative feedback. Many did not enjoy the looks of the wide bottom feeder mouth and oddly set rear tail lights. As with many cases of change, acceptance has seemed to slowly set in. The car looks much better under the radiant spotlights of the Geneva floor.

Ardalan Farboud’s Pagani Sei Concept: Better than the Huayra?

Monday, February 7, 2011

You may be surprised to learn that the Pagani Huayra isn’t my cup of tea (that’s Anglo-speak for “ I don’t like it”). Conversely, I have a great amount of affection for the Zonda and its limited-run sister, the Zonda F. The Huayra seems more Spyker-lookalike than Enzo-killer, which many would agree was the first generation Z’s raison d’ĂȘtre.

I also like Ardalan Farboud’s Pagani Sei design study. It has the sort of unfussy slickness that the Zonda had and the Huayra lacks, while staying true to the brand’s tenets of being lithe, fast and using gratuitous amounts of carbon fibre. Farboud, a recent graduate from Coventry University’s Master of Design course, produced the Sei as part of his final year project.
