SPIED: 2012 Peugeot 508 Station Wagon?

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Our colegas at Diariomotor got themselves a series of spy photos showing what they claim to be a heavily disguised prototype of the Peugeot 508 Station Wagon. The French carmaker teased the sedan version of the 508, which will replace both the 407 and 607 saloons, with the "5 by Peugeot" concept model at the 2010 Geneva Salon this past March.

New Peugeot 508 Flagship Sedan Snagged Undisguised During Filming?

Friday, June 25, 2010

A photograph of an undisguised 2011 Peugeot 508 sedan (or at least that's the most likely badge), allegedly captured during the filming of a promotional clip somewhere in Madrid, Spain, has been making the internet rounds today.

If it's the real deal, then it appears that Peugeot's designers have toned down the styling a little compared to the near-production concept model, called the "5 by Peugeot", that was showcased in Geneva earlier this year (see here).

Peugeot Previews New 508 Sedan with Geneva Show Concept, Said to Replace Both the 407 and 607

Monday, February 15, 2010

The awkwardly named "5 by Peugeot" is a near-production concept car from Peugeot that will have its world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Salon in the beginning of March. It previews the French firm's all-new 508 sedan that could be revealed as early as this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

The automaker describes the 508 concept car as "another indication of the changing face of Peugeot" and as "providing an insight into the marque's future ambitions in the large luxury vehicle segment."

From what we understand, the production 508 will replace both the VW Passat-fighting 407 and the unsuccessful Audi A6-sized 607 sedan. This is also suggested by the concept model's exterior dimensions which at 4,860mm long, is 42mm shorter than the 607 but 168mm longer than the 407 sedan.

2010 Peugeot 407 Coupe Gains New 163HP 2.0L and 240HP V6 Diesel Engines

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6Peugeot is enhancing its 407 Coupe model lineup for the 2010MY with the introduction of a new pair of diesel engines that have been developed in cooperation with Ford. Leading the way is the new 3.0-liter V6 HDi diesel that was recently launched on the Citroen C5 and C6 models. The new unit that replaces the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 HDi generates 240HP at 3,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm from 1,600 rpm to 3,600 rpm.

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6Surprisingly, it's the most powerful engine ever to be used on a production Peugeot. Equipped with a particle emissions filter (PEF) and compliant to Euro 5 standards, the V6 diesel that is linked to a six-speed sequential automatic gearbox launches the four-seater coupe from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 240km/h or 149 mph.

Even though power is increased by 18 percent over the 2.7-liter V7 HDi, Peugeot claims a 15 percent reduction in fuel consumption announcing a combined figure of 7.2 lt/100km (32.7 mpg US or 39.2 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 189g/km instead of 225g/km on the previous model.

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6The second new diesel engine for 407 Coupe is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder HDi that is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and develops an output of 163HP and 340Nm of torque compared to 136HP and 320Nm of the previous 2.0L diesel. With this powertrain, the 407 Coupe accelerates from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 9.1 seconds and achieves a maximum speed of 220km/h or 137mph.

On average, the 407 Coupe 2.0 HDi consumes 5.2 liters of diesel per 100 km which comes to around 45.2 mpg US or 54.3 mpg UK.

For the 2010MY range, all 407 Coupe models benefit from newly designed door mirrors, chrome trimming on the upper section of the side windows and all-new navigation system.

2010 Peugeot 408 Sedan: New Renderings Based on Inside Info

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Peugeot 408These are the latest speculative renderings of Peugeot's 407 mid-size sedan replacement that is due to arrive in European showrooms sometime during the fourth quarter of 2010. The crew over at French car magazine L'Auto Journal told us that the computer generated images of the Peugeot 408 are based on inside information. As is always the case with these kind of stories, only time will tell how close the renderings are to reality.

Peugeot 408 What we do know for certain is that underneath the sheetmetal, the Peugeot 408 sedan will get the same platform and much of the mechanical hardware found in the well accepted Citroen C5.

Expect to see Peugeot's Ford Mondeo and Opel Insignia challenger to be offered with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a 1.8-litre 127-horsepower petrol unit to the new 3.0-liter HDi V6 diesel that produces a healthy 240-horsepower.

Spied: Peugeot 408 Sedan Prototype Pictures Appear on Forum

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

We are still about a year away from the presentation of the 407's successor, but a member of the Peugeot-Forum seems to have scooped a totally undisguised prototype of the French automaker's new 408 sedan in a parking lot or a garage of some sort. The fuzzy pictures hint at a more aggressive and sportier design language for the 408 that will share its platform and engine line-up with the also new Citroen C5. Follow the jump for a few more shots.

Peugeot 408 Rendered - In a Kizashi Sort Of Way...

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Even though the current Peugeot 407 isn't due for replacement until 2010, French car magazine L'Auto Journal has come up with a new set of renderings of the mid-size model's successor that will almost certainly be called 408. We must admit that, rabbit-tooth grille aside, the 408 shown in these scans looks pretty sharp. And why shouldn't it as the artist apparently used the Suzuki Kizashi 3 sport sedan concept that made a splash at last April's New York Auto Show as a canvas for the 408... -Continued

But come to think of it, after seeing that the Peugeot Kizashi looks quite good on paper, we'd like to propose an idea: since Suzuki seems to have outright diluted the Kizashi's styling on the forthcoming production version (click here for details) how about if Peugeot took the original concept and applied a little bit of magic to create the 408?

Peugeot 407 Facelift: Minor Changes

Monday, May 26, 2008

Rather than go through a full-size redesign, Peugeot preferred a light update for its 407 Sedan and Station Wagon models. Changes on the outside include the reworked grille upfront that's been enhanced with more doses of chrome along with the new headlamps and tail-lamps. Inside, Peugeot has enhanced the 407 with extra comfort equipment and in particular onboard temperature control and new telematics systems along with a new front parking assistance. -Continued

The only mechanical changes concern the updated 2.0-litre HDi engine which now 138Hp (103Kw), an increase of 4Hp or 3 kW. It also benefits from a fuel consumption of 5.6 litres/100km (42MPG) and CO2 emissions reduced to 150 g/km. Sales are expected to start in Europe over the next few weeks.

New Peugeot 408 Rendering

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

In its latest issue, French car magazine “Autoplus” is attempting to give us a preview of the forthcoming Peugeot 408 mid-size sedan that will replace the current generation 407. What looks to be more of a facelift of the 407 than an all-new model, the artist’s take on the 408 isn’t exactly promising especially in concern of the front end with the elevated grille that seems totally out of place. -Continued
