Jay Leno Takes Hurst's 570HP Supercharged Dodge Challenger SRT8 for a Spin

Friday, January 4, 2013

As much as he loves his Italian exotics, Jay Leno is also a muscle car fan. In his wide (and wild) collection, there are two Dodge Challengers: a 1970 R/T and a 2008 SRT, the latter being the fourth car that rolled off the production line.

His 1970 Dodge is fitted with a Hurst pistol-grip lever, something that apparently increased the car’s “cool” factor. The Hurst name remained dormant for some time but now it has been resurrected, so Jay had to find out what the company was up to.

Not that they really needed an excuse, but just in case the Mayan "End of the world" prophecy comes true on December 21, a group of Dodge Challenger owners under the umbrella of the West Coast Challengers Car Club organized a special meeting.

The gathering was appropriately named “End of the World” Cruise and it took place this past weekend in California.

Dodge Cummins Drags Chevrolet Silverado Around a Parking Lot During Crazy Tug of War [NSFW]

Monday, December 17, 2012

Whoever said that watching pickup trucks isn't fun, hasn't obviously witnessed a mechanical tug-of-war.

A group of young Americans who didn’t have anything better to do on what we assume to be a Friday night since the video was uploaded on Saturday, Dec. 15, watched two of their peers stage a tugging war at a parking lot with their trucks, a Chevrolet Silverado and a diesel-powered Dodge Ram Cummins.

The Silverado not only lost hands down, but the overzealous driver of the diesel Dodge truck took the Chevy for a foolishly dangerous victory run around the parking lot. Naturally, all hell broke loose once he stopped…

Rolling Down a Hill in a Minivan Looks Strangely Fun

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

We don't know if tumbling or rolling (depending on the vehicle and the driver) down a rocky hill pass classifies as a legit motorsports event, but it sure looks like heaps of fun, at least when you're watching it from the comfort and safety of your computer desk, though, we must admit, we wouldn't mind trying it out ourselves... Thursday, October 18, 2012

As if the Dodge Viper and the Lamborghini Gallardo supercars aren't powerful and fast enough in completely stock form, some owners opt to tune them to the extreme, sometimes going as far as even doubling their outputs.

During the Texas Invitational Fall 2012 Roll Race Event this past Sunday, October 14, there was a race held between two heavily modified versions of the previously mentioned sports cars, both of which featured twin-turbocharged engines.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

The annual SEMA Show is as much about cars as it is about, well, the show, which explains why we see so many people from the music, movie and television industry putting their names on a variety of project cars every year.

Successful American ventriloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham will have his time under the 2012 SEMA Show's spotlight at the end of the month as he teamed up with Chrysler Group's Mopar and SRT brands to design a unique Dodge Challenger SRT-8 called the "Project Ultraviolet".

It's Official: Dodge to Withdraw from NASCAR in 2013

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

For some, Dodge and NASCAR go together like beer and ride-on lawn mowers but after Penske Racing's surprise decision in February to end its partnership with the Chrysler Group brand at the end of the 2012 season and switch to Ford as its manufacturer for Sprint Cup cars in 2013, the Detroit automaker didn't have a lot of options, or so it claims (see below).

In a press conference today, SRT Motorsports President and CEO Ralph Gilles said that the automaker tried hard its best to find a company to replace Penske Racing as a builder for its competition engines, but failed to a come up with a viable solution.

Watch a 500hp Ram SRT-10 Carrying a Life-Size Plastic Cow Race a Range Rover, X6M and ML63

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

As it turns out, adding a real life-size plastic cow to the bed of a Dodge Ram SRT-10 will not help you win a race, at least not one where speed is the operative parameter, but it will help you stand out from the crowd.

The cow-equipped SRT-10 featuring the Viper's 8.3-liter V10 engine with 500-horsepower went up against a Range Rover Sport Supercharged GT600 producing 600 ponies, followed by a stock Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG with 510-horses and a BMW X6M Evotech Stage 2 rated at 630hp.

There's a video just after the break for your enjoyment.

Chrysler Introduces Industry-First In-Vehicle Wireless Charging Pad

Monday, April 9, 2012

The idea of wireless charging smaller or in some cases, even larger devices is nothing new, but the Chrysler Group wants to be the first to offer such a system on cars through its Mopar division.

General Motors had presented a wireless cell phone mat on a Chevrolet Volt at last year's CES in Las Vegas with the intent to begin offering the system on numerous Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac products from the second half of 2012.

However, the Chrysler Group seems bent to be the first to provide an in-vehicle wireless charging pad as it will make the technology available on the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart that arrives in showrooms in the second quarter of this year.

Holy Grand Expansion: Dodge Challenger SRT-8 Turned into a Four-Door Stretch Limo!

Monday, March 26, 2012

As you can see, there are no limits in what one can do when fantasy makes you its friend. Though somewhat less radical than the Dodge Viper RT/10 roadster limo we showed you a couple of weeks ago, the Dodge Challenger LX SRT-8 that was displayed at this past weekend's annual Spring Festival of LXs in Irvine, California, is one of those oddities that will always capture the crowd's attention. All-New 2013 Dodge Dart Compact Sedan Makes its Official World Premiere in Detroit

Monday, January 9, 2012

We might have lost count of the times Alfa Romeo has announced its return to the U.S. only to push it further back a little while later, but we can say that the first 21st-century Alfa has already landed on the Land of the Free – sort of.

That’s because the all-new Dodge Dart compact sedan that has been officially unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show is based on a modified version of the platform that underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and is the first sample of the Fiat-Chrysler cooperation since the former gaining control of the latter in 2009.

Its design bears no resemblance to its Italian cousin, though, as the 2013 Dart, apart from being a four-door sedan and not a five-door hatchback it is longer and wider. It also features its own, distinctive design with the Dodge-trademarked crosshair grille and the Charger-inspired rear lights.

The Dart measures 183.9-in. (4,672mm) long, 72-in. (1,830mm) wide, 57.7-in. (1,465mm) tall and rides on a 106.4-in. (2,703mm) wheelbase, or roughly the same size as the latest BMW 3-Series!

2013 Dodge Dart Photos and Video Leaked Ahead of Detroit Motor Show Debut

Saturday, January 7, 2012

There has been much excitement over the brand-new 2013 Dodge Dart as it's the first Chrysler product to be based upon a Fiat architecture – in fact so much that some couldn't just wait and unleashed a slew of pictures as well as the first video of the compact sedan on the road.

The Dart effectively replaces the Caliber in Dodge's lineup offering the Chrysler Group a direct rival to the Ford Focus and Chevrolet saloons.

It is based on a wider and longer version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta's platform and will offer American buyers an initial choice of three gasoline four-cylinder engines including a pair of natural aspirated units with a displacement of 2.0-liters and 2.4-liters rated at 160 and 184-horses respectively as well as a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine from the Abarth 500 with 160-ponies.
