Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 Proves its Worth on the Snow

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Who said Lamborghinis can't be driven on the snow? Well, perhaps owners of cars made in the pre-VW Group era (sans the LM002 SUV) or rear-wheel editions, but the Gallardo LP560 with its fairly advanced all-wheel drive system and equally importantly, the correct set of tires, can be a delight on nature's frosting. The first accident we found on the crash-loving website Wreckedexotics reportedly involves a Chinese customer of Lamborghini who took a Gallardo roadster for a test drive out in the rain and somehow ended up killing a tree and parking it on its side…

C&D Drives a Gallardo LP550-2 to Sample One of the Last Supercars with a Manual Gearbox

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

It’s an age-old story: technology and its advancements may be adopted by the general public but there are always some who will mourn the passing of the old ways.

There are still those who insist that vinyl records are way superior than compact discs, never mind that even that medium will soon join the one it replaced and give way to the fully-digital media.

In much the same way, there are people who bemoan the fact that semi-auto transmissions are becoming the new standard in supercars and manual gearboxes are getting pretty rare.

Thursday, October 18, 2012

As if the Dodge Viper and the Lamborghini Gallardo supercars aren't powerful and fast enough in completely stock form, some owners opt to tune them to the extreme, sometimes going as far as even doubling their outputs.

Lamborghini Unveils Refreshed 2013 Gallardo Spyder Range

Monday, October 15, 2012

We already saw Lamborghini's new offerings for its 2013 model year Gallardo coupe range at the Paris Motor Show, and now, the Santa'Agata Bolognese carmaker has gone ahead and introduced the Spyder variants of its 'baby' supercar series.

Not the least bit surprising, the same changes and updates made to the coupe models apply to the topless version.

This means that the base Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder went under the knife gaining a more angular new front and rear fascia, with Lamborghini widening the air outlet for the power unit at the rear to improve the heat expulsion from the V10 unit, which continues to produce 553hp (560PS) and 540 Nm (397 lb-ft) of peak torque.

Lamborghini Perdigón Design Concept by Ondrej Jirec is Razor Sharp, But is it Too Much?

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Ever since Lamborghini unleashed the limited-run Reventon Coupe and Roadster specials back in 2008 and 2009 respectively, the famed Italian automaker turned a fresh page on the styling front using razor sharp lines inspired by jet fighters for its production and concept models such as the Aventador and the Sesto Elemento.

Many design students have adopted the same design philosophy when it comes to creating their own concept drawings for future Lamborghini models, including Ondrej Jirec, a final year Transport Design student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Thursday, September 27, 2012

It may not look like it, but when the Gallardo was first launched in 2003, its direct rival was the Ferrari 360.

While Maranello has since launched two new models to compete with the "raging bull", the Sant’ Agata-based supercar maker has simply responded by refreshing the Gallardo and presenting numerous special edition versions.

This practice proved quite successful, as with nearly 13,000 units sold to date, the "baby Lambo" is the brand's best-selling model ever.

Lamborghini Aventador and Gallardo Performante Put Through Their Paces on the Italian Countryside

Carscoop subscribes by the dictum that you can never really have too much of a good thing. Especially when we are talking about supercars and even more so, if it concerns a Lamborghini or two…

So, while we have already shown you our fair share of raging bull models, we thought that a video of stealthy matte black Aventador (ed's note: our choice of paint if we ever win the lottery) and a retina-piercing orange Gallardo Performante, aka the open-top version of the Superleggera, wouldn’t go amiss.
