Drift Battle Between Scion FR-S and Lexus SC430

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Normally, a Lexus SC430 wouldn't stand much of a chance against a Scion FR-S in a drift battle. However, the car you see here isn’t a regular version of the hardtop convertible but a gutted out and race-prepped iteration.

The two specially modified Japanese models met up at the 2012 Formula Drift event in New Jersey earlier this summer.

This is Not What You're Thinking - Honda Accord Does Not Have the Hots for Lexus SC

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Customers at a Trader Joe’s parking lot in Claremont, California, were up for a surprise on Monday evening when the driver of a Honda Accord managed to make a simple exit out of a parking space into a huge and expensive mess when he landed on top of a first gen Lexus SC.

Local news site Claremont-Courier reported that according to eyewitnesses, Rod Kamitsuka backed his 1994 Honda Accord out of the parking and then somehow, the sedan moved forward hitting a handicapped parking sign, which acted as a ramp launching the car into the air and on to the roof of a 1998 Lexus SC 300.

Popular Mechanics Compiles List of 1980s and 1990s Dreams Cars Priced under $6,000

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Popular Mechanics has put together a list of 1980s and 1990s cars, which it claims, back then could be considered by many as "dream cars", but today can be found on eBay for under US $6,000. We can't say we fully agree with the term "dream cars" for some of PM's choices as they're not exactly the hottest vehicles ever made, but, hey, they represent some weird decades.

Just be sure that you can mend a thing or two under the hood, otherwise you should be wary or better yet, increase your budget. Hit the jump to read about the cars that made it into Popular Mechanic's list and why not, tell us what your choices would be from the era with a budget up to $6,000.

Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing: Lexus SC gets Mercedes-Benz AMG Makeover...

Monday, October 18, 2010

I really should hate this as much as that '95 Thunderbird with the '50s Ford front end, but I don't.

Maybe it's because this Z30 Toyota Soarer, otherwise known as the first generation Lexus SC in the U.S., with a Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM-esque front end and SL AMG rear end is so well done. Heck, it's a lot more convincing than those Miata-based replicas we see so often.

Next Gen Lexus SC430 & Toyota Avalon Axed

Monday, July 14, 2008

According to a report from Inside Line citing unnamed Toyota sources, the Japanese carmaker has canceled the next generation Lexus SC430 Coupe-Cabriolet and may put on ice the successor for the Toyota Avalon Sedan. The reason for the cancelation of the SC series is poor sales as through the first six months of this year, Lexus sold only 1,230 SC's, down more than 40% from last year. But Lexus fans shouldn’t be worried as the luxury carmaker plans to introduce the high-end LF-A supercar in 2009 or 2010.

As for the Avalon, Toyota is considering to replace its largest sedan in the North American market with a long-wheel base version of the next generation Camry which is due in 2011.
