New Holden Commodore VF to be Unveiled on February 10, Previews New Chevy SS

Monday, February 4, 2013

Dubbed by General Motors' Australian subsidiary Holden as the "most advanced vehicle created in this country", the new VF-series Commodore sedan will be officially revealed this Sunday, February 10, though, the automaker will use social media and a new microsite at 'buildthecommodore' to tease bits and pieces of the new model beginning on Wednesday, February 6.

The next generation of the Commodore sedan also forms the base for GM's new North American market 2014 Chevrolet SS, which is scheduled for launch towards the end of the year as a limited production model. As some of you may recall, CarScoop's Josh Byrnes recently rendered the new SS.

Kiwi Takes a Whiz from Inside his Minivan While Passing…a Patrol Car [NSFW]

Thursday, January 3, 2013

While not as near as disgraceful or embarrassing as drunken Twilight star Bronson Pelletier who was filmed [NSFW link]…relieving himself on the floor of the LAX airport just the other day, being that anything you place on the internet is there to stay for good, this young man from New Zealand will be forever known as the guy who air-peed on a patrol car.

Unlike Pelletier, though, the young man featured here doesn’t really look intoxicated, instead he simply had to go, and with the recommendations of his pals, he decided to crank open the window of their minivan, which at that point, was rolling on the highway, and…turn on his natural sprinkler.

Just Some Aussies Hooning Around in an Abandoned Factory

Friday, December 21, 2012

You might not know it yet, but large and empty buildings can actually be an ideal place to burn some rubber and engage in what Australians and New Zealanders like to call hooning.

The crew from LuckyBelt explains:

"Last month we were lucky enough to have access to an old empty factory for the afternoon the day before it was knocked down in Perth, Western Australia. This was the result."

Watch Real Life Mad Max Terrorize an Australian Driver During an Extreme Road Rage Incident

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

With all the incidents filmed on Russian roads, (you can head over to Jalopnik for some of the best dashcam clips of 2012 – we're preparing our own list, too), we rarely say this about a road rage incident, but WOW.

There's road rage, there's psychotic and then there's "this windshield ain't going to stop me punching your face" kind of rage, which makes Mad Max and Toecutter look like Care Bears…

We only get to hear and watch one side of the story in this incident as the perpetrator has yet to be interviewed, or captured by the police, for that matter, but here's what went on.

Aussie Cops Looking for This "Menacing" Go-Kart Hoon in Sydney

Friday, December 14, 2012

What might look to us like a foolish act by a young man who rode a go-kart on a busy road in Sydney's southwest, has infuriated Australian police as well as the local media.

A passenger of a car following on from behind filmed the man traveling on the road before he slammed on the brakes, losing control and performing a 180-degree turn to avoid running a red light.

Australian Police Warns About Apple iOS 6 Maps After App Directs Drivers to the Desert

Monday, December 10, 2012

In September, Apple decided to ditch Google Maps from its iOS 6 iPhone operating system in favor of its own navigation app. From a commercial point of view, it surely makes sense to promote your own products instead of those of your rivals.

Obviously, the folks at Cupertino should have ensured that their map app was accurate before making it the sole option for iOS6 users. In Australia, police have gone as far as to warn drivers of using Apple's map app.

Mad Max's Ford Falcon Coupe Pursuit Special Replica Could be Yours for AU$105k

Many things have changed over the 33 years that passed since George Miller's classic dystopian action flick Mad Max hit the big screen, but the blacked out Pursuit Special that served as Max Rockatansky's (played by Mel Gibson) police car remains as cool as ever.

The original Pursuit Special was a 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT, one of the most popular sports coupes in Australia at the time. A team led by Murray Smith modified the Aussie coupe into the beast that starred in the movie.

Badass FPV Falcon GT RSPEC with Supercharged V8 is Australia's Most Powerful Highway Patrol Car

Friday, November 23, 2012

Aussie cops have a knack for hunting down anything on the road that rolls on four-wheels and is load, fast and…furious, but we have a hunch they would prefer to do so while driving the same kind of automobiles themselves…

One of the cars they would love to get their hands on is a bespoke FPV GT RSPEC in police trim, billed as "the most powerful highway patrol car to hit Australian roads". It is the 150th built GT RSPEC and appropriately, it commemorates the NSW Police 150th anniversary.

Australian Biker Chased by Police Films Himself Being Apprehended by a Smiley Cop

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Ah, the raw beauty of filming yourself doing something illegal and getting in trouble for it.

In this video, we have a dirt bike rider all suited up and equipped with a helmet-mounted camera that keeps recording while he is being pursued by an undercover police car in Australia.

Classic 1970s Ford Falcon XY GT Slams into 1960s Holden EK

Monday, November 19, 2012

An accident is an accident, and no matter what kinds of cars are involved in one, it all comes down to the well-being of people. We're glad to say that the passengers of the two cars seen in this video made it out alive and well suffering only "bumps" and "bruises", according to the driver of one of the vehicles.

What makes this incident of particular interest is that the two vehicles are classic Australian models, including an early 1960s Holden EK sedan and an early 1970s Ford Falcon XY GT, though we don't know if it was a replica or an original (say double 'ouch' if it’s the latter…).

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Mazda chose this week's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney for the first public appearance of its redesigned CX-9 crossover. The Japanese firm's seven-seater model has been with us since 2007 having received its first facelift in 2009.

For its second facelift, Mazda brings the CX-9 closer to its newer products like the "6" and the CX-5 by applying the 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design theme to front and rear ends of the mid-size crossover, while also making some minor tweaks to the interior and adding a raft of new safety features.

At least from some angles, the 2013 CX-9's new and more serious fascia that features a five-point grille with a chrome surround connected to the revamped headlamps and a brand new bumper design, looks sharper and more modern than the outgoing model.

Ford Teases New 2014 Falcon During Sydney Motor Show Presentation [w/Video]

Mark Twain once famously said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.” The same seems to holds true about the Australian market Ford Falcon, which will live on after all, at least for another generation, despite the rumors of its death because of declining sales.

In move that took most by surprise, Ford showed a teaser video of the all-new 2014 Falcon at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, on Thursday morning.

Lexus LF-LC Concept gets the Blues for the 2012 Sydney Auto Show

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

As it turns out, what Lexus meant to say when it announced back in August that it plans to reveal a "further development of a vehicle shown at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year" at the Australian Auto Show in Sydney, is that it would display the LF-LC in a different shade.

Lexus tells us that the LF-LC Blue concept's new hue is inspired by the glossy base color found in the naturally occurring semi-precious opal stone of outback Australia.
